Position Overview

Healthcare Professional Placements (HP2) is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist for an opportunity within a fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare environment.

The MRI Technologist will perform high-quality magnetic resonance imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality. This position requires strong technical expertise, excellent patient-care skills, and demonstrated experience operating GE MRI scanners.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with complex patient populations, can operate independently in a demanding clinical environment, and understands the importance of producing accurate diagnostic images while delivering an exceptional patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MRI examinations in accordance with established imaging protocols, physician orders, and safety standards.
• Operate MRI equipment safely and efficiently to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
• Operate GE MRI scanners proficiently.
• Review imaging orders and confirm appropriate examinations and protocols.
• Prepare and properly position patients for MRI procedures.
• Explain procedures to patients and answer questions to reduce anxiety and promote cooperation.
• Conduct appropriate MRI safety screening before examinations.
• Identify contraindications and elevate potential safety concerns before beginning an examination.
• Establish IV access and administer approved contrast agents when required and permitted within scope of practice.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after imaging procedures.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to adverse reactions or changes in patient condition.
• Coordinate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding imaging needs and patient care.
• Evaluate images for appropriate positioning, quality, and diagnostic adequacy.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of imaging procedures.
• Protect patient confidentiality and comply with applicable HIPAA requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe MRI environment.
• Follow infection prevention, equipment safety, contrast administration, and emergency-response protocols.
• Assist with additional patient-care responsibilities within the technologist's scope of practice as needed.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of MRI Technologist experience
• GE MRI scanner experience – REQUIRED
• Injection certification – REQUIRED
• Current ARRT certification
• BLS certification – American Heart Association (AHA) only
• Previous Level I Trauma Center experience
• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or an appropriate related field
• Knowledge of MRI safety standards and imaging protocols
• Proficiency with medical terminology and clinical documentation
• Ability to establish IV access and perform applicable contrast-related responsibilities
• Strong patient-care and communication skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical responsibilities associated with MRI procedures
• Applicants without GE MRI scanner experience and injection certification will not be considered for this assignment.

New York State Licensing

• New York State Radiologic Technologist licensure is required for the assignment.
• Candidates must be eligible and willing to obtain the required New York State license after starting, in accordance with assignment requirements and applicable regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous travel or contract MRI Technologist experience
• Experience working with high-acuity and complex patient populations
• Experience performing a broad range of MRI examinations
• Strong IV insertion and contrast administration experience
• Experience working within a large hospital or academic medical environment
