Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to operate MRI equipment, prepare patients, and support physician diagnosis by ensuring accurate information and efficient patient flow. You will perform exams across body regions, manage IV contrast administration, and coordinate with Radiologists via Tele-Radiology.

The role requires NY licensure as a Radiologic Technologist with IV contrast certification, ARRT registration, and BLS/BCLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.
• New York State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist with certification in IV contrast administration is required.
• ARRT registration is required.
• MR(RT)(ARRT) certification required within eighteen (18) months of entry date.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) is required.
• Prior Radiology Experience is required; MRI experience preferred.
• Knowledge of MRI equipment and protocols is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs MRI procedures including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, and specialty planning as directed.
• Screens patients prior to procedures and verifies consent where applicable.
• Calculates IV contrast dose based on patient weight and administers IV contrast per radiologist order.
• Ensures proper equipment setup, patient positioning, and coil selection for each exam.
• Transmits cases to on-call Radiologist via Tele-Radiology system and ensures data is correctly entered.
• Prepares patients and explains procedures in layman terms; documents relevant patient information.
• Performs venipuncture as needed and manages contrast reactions.
• Maintains patient safety, monitors for contraindications, and adheres to established protocols.
• Performs related duties as required.
