Job summary

Northwell Health in New York is seeking a Radiologic Technologist with MRI experience to operate MRI equipment, prepare patients, and ensure all information is collected for diagnosis. You will manage patient flow, data reconstruction, and image transmission to PACS for physician review.

Shift Details: Monday-Thursday; 9:30am-8:00pm with a 10% shift differential for 2nd shift hours. Requires NY licensure, ARRT, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• New York State licensure as Radiologic Technologist with IV contrast administration.
• ARRT registration.
• MR MRI RT (ARRT) certification within eighteen (18) of entry date into position.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS).
• Prior radiology experience; MRI experience preferred.
• Knowledge of MRI equipment and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performs screening of patients prior to procedure.
• Ensures no metal objects accompany patient into procedure room.
• Checks creatinine level and calculates GFR to determine IV contrast eligibility.
• Reviews screening forms including IV contrast materials information sheet.
• Prepares patients for examination.
• Explains procedures and positions patient for the exam.
• Obtains consent for IV contrast materials.
• Performs MRI procedures including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, etc.
• Puts patient on exam table and positions on the gantry.
• Enters patient history into requisition with radiologist input.
• Selects and positions the correct radiofrequency coil for imaging.
• Transmits cases to on-call Radiologist via Tele-Radiology system.
• Administers IV and oral contrast per Radiologist order.
• Calculates and verifies contrast dose based on patient weight; monitors for reactions.
• Performs related duties as required.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program

New York State licensure as Radiologic Technologist with IV contrast administration

ARRT registration

MR MRI RT (ARRT) certification within 18 months of entry

BLS/BCLS certification

Prior radiology experience; MRI experience preferred

Knowledge of MRI equipment and protocols
