Job summary

UMass Memorial Medical Group is seeking a part-time MRI support technician to assist the MRI team with patient screening, positioning, safety checks, and clerical tasks. The role supports the MRI technologists and ensures efficient, safe operations in the imaging suite.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS healthcare provider required before completion of 90-day probationary period.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Basic clerical and computer skills.
• Medical Terminology preferred but not required.
• Prior medical experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records patient clinical information and history; verifies physicians' orders and reviews lab results.
• Assists the technologist in transferring and positioning patients, ensuring safety.
• Prepares oral contrast media under supervision and documents work in HIS/RIS/PACS systems.
• Maintains cleanliness of rooms and supplies; prevents cross-contamination.
• Keeps MRI areas up to date with safety policies and procedures.
• Performs other clerical duties and assists technologists as needed.
• Conducts pre-screening interviews by telephone with patients prior to service date.
• Assists with obtaining documentation of implants for MRI safety and protocols from Radiologist.
• Books or reschedules patients as needed.
