Job summary

UVA Imaging in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a full-time MRI Safety Officer (MRSO) to lead MRI safety programs across our outpatient imaging sites. The MRSO will oversee safety policies, training, audits, and incident reviews to ensure top patient care and regulatory compliance.

Minimal patient scanning may be included as part of duties, with collaboration across radiologists and technologists to maintain a culture of safety and high-quality imaging services.

Qualifications

• Must hold MRI Safety Officer (MRSO) certification from a recognized body or be prepared to take the exam.
• ARRT(MR) or equivalent MRI technologist certification is required.
• Minimum of 3 years MRI experience in a clinical imaging environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the facility's MRI Safety Officer and lead safety programs.
• Develop, implement, and maintain MRI safety policies and training.
• Conduct MRI screening audits and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Review MRI incidents, advise on corrective actions, and participate in quality initiatives.
• Provide MRI safety education and competency training for staff.
• Assist in evaluating MRI-compatible equipment and devices.
• Collaborate with radiologists and technologists on patient safety concerns.
• Maintain documentation related to MRI safety, staff training, and compliance.
• Stay current with evolving MRI safety standards and guidelines.
• Assist in protocolling exams and perform patient MRI exams as needed.
