Job summary

UVA Health Outpatient Imaging Culpeper is seeking a Lead MRI Technologist to oversee daily MRI operations while delivering hands-on patient care.

This leadership role includes mentoring staff, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring high-quality imaging. Eligible for MRSO training and professional development, with a Monday–Friday schedule and no on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience as an MRI Technologist.
• Associates degree in Radiology or graduate of accredited two-year radiology program.
• ARRT or ARMIT registration; MR advanced within 12 months for IDTF centers; state licensure as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MRI procedures while ensuring patient safety.
• Lead and coordinate daily MRI workflow and department operations.
• Mentor MRI technologists and staff.
• Maintain MRI safety standards and accreditation requirements.
• Assist with staffing, scheduling, training, and onboarding.
• Monitor image quality and MRI protocols.
• Troubleshoot equipment and workflow concerns.
• Collaborate with radiologists, nursing staff, and referring providers.
• Support patient satisfaction and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Status: Full-Time
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
• Location: Culpeper, Virginia
• Setting: Outpatient Imaging
• No On-Call Requirements!

Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 5 years experience as a MRI Technologist

EDUCATION:

• Must have a minimum Associates Degree in Radiology or be a graduate of an accredited two-year radiology program.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography, or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMIT) and maintain current valid registration from ARRT or ARMIT. MR advanced registration through ARRT or ARMIT is required upon hire for IDTF centers. Non-IDTF centers require MR advanced registry within the first 12 months of employment. Additionally, must meet the state licensure requirement for the state in which they practice.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of routine to complex MRI procedures and protocols.
• Skill in operation of MRI equipment as well as applicable ancillary equipment.
• Ability to work independently and multitask.
• Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely.
• Demonstrates understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiopharmacology, and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of computer applications, including information and billing systems, keyboard input, digital archiving, and retrieving of data.
