Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking an MRI Technologist Safety Officer (MRSO) to review implants for MRI conditional status and to perform diagnostic MRI exams under radiologist direction. The role emphasizes compassionate patient care and adherence to organizational standards.

Candidates participate in on-call rotations and may work some weekends and holidays. The MRSO will consult with radiologists and departments on safety concerns, interpret manufacturer labeling, and ensure safe scanning protocols

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
• Minimum 2 years MRI experience in a hospital or clinic.
• Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO) on hire or within 1 year; ARRT MRI certification; IA Permit to Practice; BCLS certification; Mandatory Reporter within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Independently evaluates MRI safety risks and determines actions.
• Consults radiologists and departments on MRI safety and implants.
• Reviews MRI safety information to determine conditional requirements and parameters.
• Researches implanted devices for MRI scanning parameters and safety.
• Communicates scanning strategies with radiologists.
• Guides staff on MRI protocols for implants to reduce radiologist calls.
• Assists radiologists with risk-benefit decisions for patient safety.
• Verifies orders and correlates with patient history.
• Performs high-quality MRI exams across ages and locations as needed.
