Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine seeks a full-time Imaging Research Technician to support CAMRI's research imaging operations in the Texas Medical Center. The role focuses on safe MRI sessions, patient comfort, and preparing the scanner environment for research studies.

Beyond imaging, the technician will assist with computing support, QA of imaging and computing systems, and exposure to advanced scientific computing approaches including AI applications in neuroscience.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in related field or two years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Responsibilities

  • MRI safety training and progress toward independent operator certification.
  • Direct responsibility for participant safety, screening, and comfort during imaging sessions.
  • Review completed MRI screening forms and consult the technical director with questions.
  • Screen every subject prior to their session to ensure no implants or items contraindicating MRI.
  • Position subjects properly for MRI and adjust padding for comfort.
  • Prepare and configure scanner room hardware (e.g., coils, peripherals, interfaces).
  • Follow safety protocols and documentation procedures.
  • Contribute to data workflows and light computing support for CAMRI systems.
  • Support QC and QA for imaging and computing systems and assist data backups.
