Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a TH Medical Radiographer III to provide diagnostic MRI services, position patients, and ensure safety and quality control within Radiology-MRI. The role requires ARRT-MRI and NYS licensure with IV contrast certification, plus BLS.

A supervisory capacity may arise in absence of senior staff; weekend coverage may be required. Preferred candidates have outpatient hospital experience and 5+ years MRI experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Diagnostic Radiology Technology program.
• NYSDOH Licensed in Diagnostic Radiology Technology with IV Contrast Injection certification.
• ARRT-MRI Certification.
• Current BLS Certification.
• Outpatient Hospital experience (preferred).
• 5+ years of MRI experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Produces diagnostic MRI exams, positions and transfers patients with proper factors and equipment.
• Follows safety standards and assists in administering contrast when required.
• May act as supervisor in absence of the lead technologist.
• Teaches radiology students or hospital personnel according to department objectives.
• Performs quality control tasks and participates in required specialty research.
• Maintains sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination.
• Initial shift is Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM with weekend availability as needed.
