Job summary

UPMC in Altoona is seeking an MRI/CT Tech Assistant to support staff technologists in daily MRI and CT services. You will meet patients, assist with paperwork and scheduling, escort patients to dressing areas, and help with basic room preparation. The schedule is full-time 12:00 p.m.

to 8:30 p.m. with rotation as needed, including weekends and holidays. Under the direct supervision of a certified technologist, you will aid with screening, IV access, contrast preparation, and patient

Responsibilities

• Meets patients and assists with paperwork preparation and scheduling questions.
• Escorts patients to dressing areas and assists as needed.
• Conducts MRI screening to ensure safe scanning and provides screening forms for review.
• Assists with lifting and transferring patients to and from exam tables.
• Establishes IV access for contrast administration according to procedures.
• Assists in preparation of oral contrast and provides patient instructions under technologist guidance.
• Positions and centers the patient and MRI coil/CT table for proper imaging.
• Performs telemetry monitoring during exam when applicable and provides care support.
• Provides discharge instructions as directed by the technologist.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to technologist and supervisor.
• Participates in QC functions including daily/weekly QC testing.
• Transports patients to and from the unit when required.
• Cleans and prepares exam room following established procedures.
