Job summary

UPMC McKeesport in East McKeesport, PA is hiring a full-time CT Technologist to join our imaging team. You will perform CT procedures, administer contrast per orders, and ensure accurate documentation and coding while providing compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Performs computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration without requiring constant supervision.
• Utilizes complex imaging equipment for acquisition, analysis, reconstruction and documentation of image data and completes procedures according to protocol.
• Ensures all exams within area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and charges entered.
• Administers PO, rectal and IV contrast per physician orders and assesses patients for risk before contrast administration.
• Communicates instructions to patients clearly and explains procedures to help alleviate fears and gain cooperation.
• Performs procedures with independent judgment to adjust protocols and apply ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
• Identifies patients using two identifiers and uses universal protocol; reviews history and physician orders; documents history in the EHR.
• Demonstrates proper venipuncture technique and use of power injector per department/manufacturer protocols.
