Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Sorter at our Lewiston Material Recovery Facility to sort recycled materials, inspect items, and place them into designated areas by commodity and grade.

The role requires teamwork, safety focus, and the ability to stand, reach, bend and lift. Starting pay is $16.00 per hour with growth opportunities. A high school diploma or GED and good English communication are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job (standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying and climbing).

Responsibilities

• Sorts assigned commodities in a manner consistent with the goals of the facility.
• Performs cleaning duties related to plant equipment and general housekeeping as required.
• Reports system problems to Supervisor.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Completes all required initial Safety Training and attends monthly trainings.
• Maintains an excellent attendance and safety work quality record.
• Participates in training and learning opportunities to support company goals.
