Job summary

UCLA Economics Department is seeking a Graduate Advisor for the Master of Quantitative Economics (MQE). The advisor will manage admissions, enrollment, and student services, coordinating with MQE leadership and the Chair to support recruitment, retention, and degree progress.

The role requires excellent communication, collaboration across staff and faculty, and proficiency with Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and campus systems.

Qualifications

  • 2 years job-related experience (Required)
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, faculty, students, and the public (Required)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to compose, edit and proofread reports and memos (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters and student files with discretion (Required)
  • Ability to take initiative and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision (Required)
  • Familiarity with graduate degree program requirements and campus systems (Preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint (Required)
  • Experience with Slate or Salesforce (Required)
  • Knowledge of UCLA campus systems (Preferred)
  • Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends and evenings (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Manage admissions and enrollment processes for MQE.
  • Serve as main point of contact for prospective and current MQE students.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and career services.
  • Prepare reports, memos and program evaluations for leadership.
