Job summary

The City of Greensboro's MPO seeks a Transportation Planner to advance regional transportation priorities from planning into funded studies and implementation. You will support MPO and City initiatives, coordinate contracts, schedules, and invoices, and communicate with City departments, NCDOT, FHWA, consultants, and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree with 4+ years in MPO or transportation planning, and may be considered for Planner I or II depending on experience;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years in MPO planning or related field.
• For Planner I appointment, 1–3 years of related experience may be considered sufficient.
• For Planner II appointment, AICP or GISP certification, or the ability to obtain certification within six months of hire or promotion, is required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Experience with GIS or mapping tools and project tracking tools.

Responsibilities

• Support planning studies, locally administered transportation projects, and MPO/City initiatives through scoping, procurement, and documentation.
• Coordinate TIP amendments, projects schedules, funding actions, and public-facing information.
• Prepare, track, and present committee agendas, amendments, and related materials.
• Coordinate consultant procurement, RFQs/RFPs, scopes of work, and contract tracking.
• Maintain project data using workflow systems, databases, and dashboards.
