Jersey Shore Moving & Storage, Inc. Agent for National Van Lines, Inc. is seeking a Moving Estimator & Sales Representative to perform in-home and virtual consultations across New Jersey, accurately estimating household goods volume and weight to determine moving costs and recommend relocation services.

This field-based role emphasizes excellent customer service, precise estimates, and a proven ability to convert leads into signed contracts while coordinating with dispatch and operations teams.

Moving Estimator & Sales Representative Job Description Role Overview

The Moving Estimator and Sales Representative conducts in-home and virtual consultations to calculate moving costs and sell relocation services. Operating throughout New Jersey, this field-based position requires excellent customer service skills, accuracy in volume estimation, and a drive to convert leads into signed contracts.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary Range: $45,000 to $60,000 per year (dependent on experience).
• On-Target Earnings (OTE): Expected total earnings of $75,000 to $95,000+ including commission.
• Commission Structure:
  • Base + Percentage: Earn 5% to 8% commission on the total revenue of all booked and completed moves.
  • Tiered Accelerator: Commission increases to 10% once monthly revenue targets cross $80,000.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Scoping Surveys: Conduct visual in-home surveys (within a 50-mile radius) and virtual video walkthroughs to accurately evaluate household goods volume and weight.
• Generate Moving Estimates: Prepare binding, non-binding, and binding-not-to-exceed cost summaries compliant with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and New Jersey Warehousemen & Movers Association guidelines.
• Drive Sales Conversion: Follow up on inbound marketing leads, handle pricing objections, and close contracts to meet weekly sales quotas.
• Identify Specialty Logistics: Identify complex move variables including logistics for heavy items (pianos, safes), packing labor needs, shuttle truck requirements, and storage-in-transit (SIT) options.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Secure accurate inventories in the company CRM system to coordinate transition details smoothly with dispatch, operations, and packing crews.

Position Requirements

• Preferred Track: 2+ years of moving industry sales experience utilizing platforms like SmartMoving or SuperMove
• Alternative Track: 3+ years of successful field sales experience in residential construction estimation, home services, or logistics.
• License & Travel: A valid New Jersey Driver’s License with a clean driving record for daily travel to client locations.
• Geographic Knowledge: Familiarity with major New Jersey transport routes, toll systems, and parking logistics across local municipalities.
• Physical Standards: Capability to walk properties continuously, navigate multiple flights of stairs, and access storage attics or basements to inspect cargo.
• Technical Aptitude: Skillful in utilizing digital estimating software, inventory applications, and video call platforms on mobile devices.
