Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a Moving Assistant to move, haul and store office items and equipment across campus. You will operate moving equipment including trucks, forklifts, and hand tools, and you may disassemble and reassemble furniture as needed.
Designated emergency personnel position; report during emergencies and inclement weather. 40-hour week, non visa sponsorship; criminal history check required for successful candidate.
Reporting to the Buildings Services Manager, the Moving Assistant is responsible for moving, hauling and storing various office items and equipment throughout the University, and will operate moving equipment such as trucks, forklifts, and hand operated tools. Disassembles and assembles furniture and/or equipment. This is a designated emergency personnel position and employee must report during emergency and inclement weather situations.
The incumbent also performs other duties as requested; takes initiative to support a healthy work environment; strives to fulfill the terms in the Standards of Conduct; exemplifies the Virginia Tech Principles of Community; and supports the university’s motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).
