Job summary

Mercyhealth Visiting Nurses Association, Inc. seeks a qualified Physical Therapy Assistant to administer manual therapies, therapeutic exercises, balance and proprioception training, and various modalities to improve patient mobility and function.

You will observe responses, document progress in the electronic record, coordinate with the Physical Therapist, and assist with orientation of new partners as needed. Licensure in Illinois or Wisconsin is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Licensed to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in Wisconsin and/or Illinois as required.
• CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Administers manual therapeutic exercises, balance and proprioceptive training, therapeutic massage, and modality treatments.
• Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn functional activities (ambulation, transfers, daily living).
• Observes patients during treatments and reports progress to the Physical Therapist.
• Fits and trains patients in orthopedic braces and mobility devices.
• Confers with PT staff to coordinate treatment programs.
• Measures range of motion and vital signs to assess effects of treatments.
• Completes timely electronic documentation.
• May assist with orientation and training of new partners.
