Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, inspect, and coordinate movable bridge projects. You will review documents, write specifications, and provide field support while traveling as needed. Mentoring junior staff and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery are core expectations.

Ideal candidates hold a Mechanical Engineering degree, a PE license, and proven experience with commercial or institutional facilities, MS Office, and TRACE software. Local candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• PE license recognized by licensing board required (PE or P.Eng).
• Experience with commercial or institutional facilities.
• Experience with MS Office and building design software (e.g., Trane TRACE).
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and inspection on movable bridges and heavy movable structures.
• Coordinate workload to complete on schedule and on budget.
• Review mechanical documents and write inspection reports.
• Write/edit mechanical specifications and select equipment.
• Provide construction support as needed.
• Conduct QA/QC and coordinate with other engineers or technicians.
• Office and field work with possible travel.
• Mentor younger mechanical staff.
