Job summary

Penske Racing South in Mooresville, NC seeks a Performance Engineer to join our IMSA program, working with Porsche Penske Motorsport to optimize race car performance. The role requires extensive travel, including international legs, and collaboration with race engineers and tire teams.

You will analyze data, simulate gains, and refine vehicle dynamics and suspension, contributing to tire and aero development and race strategy support.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of experience in an engineer role, with expert-level data analysis.
• Expert in vehicle dynamics with 4 years’ experience in suspension systems.
• Proficient in WinTax, Timing HH, MATLAB and Microsoft Suite.
• High level motorsports experience in tire performance and strategy optimization.
• Experience with Michelin tires preferred.
• Experience with empirical and physical tire models and parameter determination.
• Strong understanding of performance-related vehicle–tire interactions.
• Excellent presentation skills and ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Utilize data software to collect, analyze, visualize, and share time-series data from multiple sources.
• Analyze, predict and simulate potential gains using tools.
• Validate potential gains with simulation tools and testing data.
• Model and modify vehicle dynamics parameters to improve performance.
• Interpret and optimize suspension systems including 7-post-rig testing.
• Support tire performance optimization and tire management during events.
• Ensure timely and high-standard mandatory tire reporting.
• Develop tire performance tools and infrastructure in collaboration with teams.
• Support tire model correlation activities with Simulation Group.
