Job summary

Branch Civil is seeking a safety-focused Rough Grade Motor Operator to join our team. You will operate a self-propelled motor grader on rough grade work, including finishing shoulders, slopes, and ditches on highway projects.

This full-time role requires knowledge of construction techniques and OSHA regulations, with on-site work in the Manassas, VA area. On-call hours may be required to handle delays, weather, or emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of construction techniques.
  • 1 to 3 years of rough grade motor operating experience.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • DOT experience preferred, but not required.

  • May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment
  • Scraping and leveling dirt on roadway
  • Spreading and mixing materials on roadway
  • Shaping and blading subgrades
  • Balancing and rough shaping base course materials
  • Fine grading and dressing of shoulders and slopes
  • Routine cleaning of equipment and work area
  • May perform other related duties

Position Summary

Branch's Civil Division is searching for an experienced and safety-oriented Rough Grade Motor Operator to join our well-established, growing company. The Rough Grade Motor Operator operates a self-propelled motor grader on rough grade work, such as finishing rough grade on the highways, including highway shoulders, slopes, and ditches.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment
  • Scraping and leveling dirt on roadway
  • Spreading and mixing materials on roadway
  • Shaping and blading subgrades
  • Balancing and rough shaping base course materials
  • Fine grading and dressing of shoulders and slopes
  • Routine cleaning of equipment and work area
  • May perform other related duties

Compensation Data

Salary Min: $38,209.50

Salary Max: $63,705

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.

The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which will typically involve 40+ hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site.
