Job summary

Staker Parson Companies, a CRH company, is seeking a Motor Grader Operator to grade roads, job sites, and aggregate surfaces while maintaining quality and safety standards. The role requires reading grade stakes, following site plans, and coordinating with supervisors and other operators on large-scale construction projects.

You will perform pre- and post-operation inspections, monitor equipment, and assist with general site tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior motor grader experience preferred.
• Ability to read grade stakes, project plans, and specs.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate motor graders for rough and finish grading on roads and sites.
• Set and maintain grades, slopes, and drainage per specs.
• Read grade stakes and site plans; interpret layouts.
• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections and document results.
• Monitor equipment condition and report maintenance needs.
• Conduct routine servicing and minor maintenance.
• Collaborate with supervisors, survey crews, and other operators to meet goals.
• Maintain safe work practices per company and regulatory standards.
• Assist with general construction and site tasks as needed.
• Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

The Motor Grader Operator is a skilled position responsible for operating motor graders to fine-grade roads, job sites, and aggregate surfaces while maintaining quality standards and ensuring safe, efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)

• Operate motor graders to perform rough and finish grading on roadway, site development, and aggregate projects.
• Establish and maintain proper grades, slopes, drainage, and roadway alignment according to project specifications.
• Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, and construction layouts.
• Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections and complete required documentation.
• Monitor equipment condition and report maintenance or repair needs promptly.
• Perform routine servicing and minor maintenance on equipment.
• Work closely with supervisors, survey crews, truck drivers, and other equipment operators to achieve production goals.
• Maintain safe work practices and comply with all company, OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations.
• Assist with general construction and site tasks as needed.
• Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Prior experience operating motor graders in construction, road building, paving, or aggregate operations preferred.
• Ability to read grade stakes, project plans, and construction specifications.
• Knowledge of grading techniques, drainage principles, and equipment operation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for extended periods while operating heavy equipment.

Frequent climbing, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Ability to safely work around heavy equipment, traffic, dust, noise, and uneven terrain.
