Job Description:

Operate a Caterpillar Motor Grader to perform various tasks such as placing borrow material, maintaining haul roads, excavating, and slope work. Also, perform rough grading and learn to perform fine grading on sub-grade and stone base to meet NCDOT specifications.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operate a motor grader at various construction sites.
• Perform walk-around inspections of equipment before and after shifts.
• Be versatile in operating other types of heavy equipment; this is a plus.
• Be productive in all aspects of DOT work.

Minimum Qualifications & Training:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in rough grade operation with a motor grader; training available for candidates showing potential in other operations.
• Understanding of grade stakes; knowledge of GPS operation is a plus.
• Ability to follow safety rules, policies, and instructions.
• Reliable, trustworthy team player.
• Good attendance and safety record.

Tasks Essential to Job Functions:

• Occasional standing and walking.
• Ability to work long periods seated in the operator's station.
• Operate equipment at recommended speeds and peaks.
• Be productive during each shift and meet set goals.
• Develop a mental picture of the finished product and execute tasks to complete them productively.
