Job summary

Modis is seeking a Motor Control Engineer for a client in St. Petersburg, FL, on a 6+ month contract. The ideal candidate will work with 8/16/32-bit MCUs to develop motor-control software for medical device manufacturing.

Responsibilities include defining software design principles, writing code, and performing unit and integration testing. Familiarity with Git and ALM tools (Azure DevOps or JIRA) is expected.

Qualifications

• Motor control experience with sensor and sensorless BLDC and DC motors.
• Strong testing skills: static analysis, unit, and integration testing; white/black box.
• Understanding of design and design testing principles.
• Familiarity with version control and lifecycle tools.

Job description

Modis is seeking a Motor Control Engineer for a client located in St. Petersburg, FL. This is a 6+ months contract position. Ideally looking for a candidate with experience in the Medical Device manufacturing industry

Pay Range: $60 - $80/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors

Your Responsibilities will include:

This includes defining software design principles, writing code in the supported language, and understanding the firmware functionality of 8, 16, 32-bit microprocessors and microcontrollers. The engineer is expected to build high-quality, innovative, and fully functional software which includes requirements, architecture, detailed design unit and integration test. The work environment can be either independent or within a team and the engineer understands and uses software design processes during their daily tasks.

Required:

• Motor control with sensor and sensorless BLDC and DC motors
• Strong testing with Static analysis, Unit and integration and white and black box testing
• Understanding of Design and Design testing principles
• Git and use of Application Life cycle tools like Azure Devops or JIRA

Nice to Have:

• Software Planning, Requirements, Architecture, Design, Implementation, and Integration
• Medical Device Design Experience with FDA and IEC62304 processes

Additional Job Description:

• Work with manager and/or PM to provide information that will aid in the initial estimation process (RFI/RFQ)
• Write clear and concise documentation related to the work performed.
• Develop and run effective software verification tests to ensure product stability and performance.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and resolve software issues on a software unit level.
• Provide input to identify and mitigate technical project risks.
• Perform tasks and work items at a sub-project level with limited support from team lead or PM.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
• Follow department processes and procedures.
