Job summary

Kollmorgen team in Radford, VA seeks a dedicated Motor Assembler II to support a range of motor and actuator assembly tasks. You will assemble standard and large motors, actuators, perform testing, and ensure quality while following detailed process sheets and BOMs.

Cross-functional collaboration and strict safety adherence are essential. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, strong attention to detail, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and basic knowledge of arithmetic; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, and adjustable measuring instruments; posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records, and related.
• Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions as to the sequence of setups, operations, and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods.
• Continuous mental and visual attention; usually diversified operations requiring constant alertness or activity.
• Must be self-motivated and self-directed.

Responsibilities

• Standard Motor Assembler: pull correct parts for assembly using BOM; assemble per drawings; magnetize small field assemblies; inspect own work for quality.
• Large Motor Assembler: pull parts using BOM; assemble large motors; magnetize large field assemblies; mount on test stand; inspect work for quality.
• Actuator and Higher Level Assembler (HLA): assemble actuators and HLAs; pull parts; inspect for drawing accuracy; assemble brakes, encoders, and resolver.
• Motor Tester: perform mechanical/electrical tests per procedures; operate test equipment; ensure motors meet test requirements.
• Spray Painter: clean parts; mask areas; mix epoxy/lacquer/enamel; ensure proper coverage; manage masking and cleanup.
• Winder: wind coils; manage inventory; test resistance; handle fixtures and machine parameters.
• Machine Winder: wind stator; perform crimping, sensor setup, varnish and coat; test as required.
• Encapsulation: carry out varnish and encapsulation tasks per procedures.
• Rotor Assembler: assemble rotors; read blueprints; verify dimensions; balance as needed.
• Core Processing: bond and stack laminations; sandblast and deburr; coat and paint cores; follow drawings and gauges; hazardous waste handling training.
• Magnet Processing: clean, bond, balance, and paint field assemblies; follow procedures and safety rules.
• Lamination Manufacture: operate presses; set up and run stamping operations; heat treat and inspect parts.
• Undercut/Debur: perform deburring; set up lathes/mills; operate undercut machines; patch armatures.
• Commutation Devices: assemble brush segments; spot weld; solder joints; perform sensor setting and inspection.
• All tasks require keeping tools/work area clean and observe safety rules; may take on other tasks as needed.
