Job summary

Spotsylvania County Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to support students with learning disabilities at Freedom Middle in Fredericksburg, VA. Work with teachers in collaborative classrooms, assist with daily tasks, behavior support, and prep of instructional materials.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED; associates degree preferred; training in MANDT is required for certain roles. This is a 10-month contract with benefits and paid leave options.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates Degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience with children in instructional/educational settings preferred.
• Staff assigned to emotional disabilities should have MANDT training and annual refreshers.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with organization and completion of daily work.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing environment and support social skills and personal hygiene where needed.
• Monitor and redirect student behavior in small groups.
• Organize instructional materials and cumulative files.
• Assist with preparing for assessments as needed.
• Use skills like sign language to support two-way communication.
• Perform additional non-instructional duties (cafeteria, bus, hall, office).
