Job summary

Capgemini Engineering in Austin, TX is seeking a highly skilled motherboard debug engineer to drive root-cause analysis and reduce backlog on server-class motherboards onsite at the manufacturing site.

You will perform in-depth debugging across hardware, firmware and networking domains, collaborate with engineering and test teams, document findings and corrective actions, and participate in occasional HQ visits to align on critical issues and improve test processes.

Qualifications

  • In-depth debugging and failure analysis of server-style motherboards.
  • Experience diagnosing board- and system-level issues in hardware/firmware/networking domains.
  • Hands-on with Linux-based debugging and hardware test environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth debugging and failure analysis of complex server-style motherboards.
  • Drive resolution of board-level issues to reduce backlog and improve product throughput
  • Troubleshoot system-level and component-level issues across hardware, firmware, and networking domains
  • Utilize hardware test equipment and Linux-based tool environments for motherboard debugging and validation
  • Collaborate with engineering and test teams to upscale, analyze, and resolve critical issues
  • Document debug findings, root cause analysis, and corrective actions clearly and effectively
  • Communicate status, risks, and technical insights to onsite and remote teams
  • Support occasional visits to headquarters for deeper collaboration, debugging, and team alignment
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to understand and improve test and failure detection processes

About the job you're considering

We are looking for a highly skilled motherboard debug engineer with expertise in complex server-class systems. This role is based onsite at the Manufacturing site, where you will play a critical role in reducing the backlog of networking products by driving efficient debugging and resolution.

Your Role
  • Perform in-depth debugging and failure analysis of complex server-style motherboards.
  • Drive resolution of board-level issues to reduce backlog and improve product throughput
  • Troubleshoot system-level and component-level issues across hardware, firmware, and networking domains
  • Utilize hardware test equipment’s and Linux based tools environments for motherboard debugging and validation
  • Collaborate with engineering and test teams to upscale, analyze, and resolve critical issues
  • Document debug findings, root cause analysis, and corrective actions clearly and effectively
  • Communicate status, risks, and technical insights to both onsite and remote teams
  • Support occasional visits to headquarters for deeper collaboration, debugging, and team alignment
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to understand and improve test and failure detection processes
Your Skills and Experience
  • Strong understanding of x86 server architecture
  • Strong experience in High Speed electrical design validation and testing.
  • Experience in signal integrity and power integrity concepts.
  • Familiarity with PCIE , DDR , USB , ETHRENET interfaces, design validation.
  • Proven expertise in board-level troubleshooting of complex server-class motherboards
  • Solid experience with Linux-based debugging and strong networking fundamentals
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly document technical findings and processes
  • Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments is highly desirable
Nice to Have

Familiarity with PCBA manufacturing and test processes, including:

  • AOI (Automated Optical Inspection)
  • 5DX (X-ray Inspection)
  • Boundary Scan
  • Functional Testing
  • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and may occasionally travel to Santa Clara headquarters to work with the core engineering and test teams, ensuring alignment and support for ongoing issues.
