Mortuary Science Instructor Pool-Part-Time
This part‑time instructional position at Cypress College involves teaching mortuary science courses on an as‑needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent foreign degree AND a Bachelor’s degree in the discipline or closely related discipline.
- Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area; and all of the following:
- Six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the assignment which must include clinical decedent care as a licensed embalmer.
- Graduation from an institution of funeral service education accredited by the ABFSE.
- National Board Exam certification from the ICFSEB not later than the first day of the semester, as a condition of employment.
- Possession of a valid California funeral director’s license or acquisition of California license not later than the first day of the semester, as a condition of employment.
- Possession of a valid California embalmer’s license or acquisition of California license not later than the first day of the semester, as a condition of employment.
- Commitment to diversity, including demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
Desirable Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in helping students from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized groups, nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with learning disabilities.
Special Requirements
- The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. A degree award date not posted on transcript will deem the application incomplete and remove it from consideration.
- Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.
- All degrees and course work used to satisfy the required minimum qualifications must be submitted and come from accredited postsecondary institutions.
- Evaluations of foreign degrees and/or coursework are required.
