Job Description

NOCCCD is now accepting applications for a Mortuary Science Instructor at Cypress College.

Special Requirements
  • The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript.
  • If degree award date is not posted on transcript your application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration.
  • Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.
  • All degrees and coursework used to satisfy the required minimum qualifications must be submitted and from accredited postsecondary institutions.
  • Evaluations of foreign degrees and/or coursework are required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent foreign degree AND a Bachelor’s degree in the discipline or closely related discipline
  • OR
  • Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area;
  • AND ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the assignment which must include clinical decedent care as a licensed embalmer
  • Graduation from an institution of funeral service education accredited by the ABFSE.
  • National Board Exam certification from the ICFSEB not later than the first day of the semester, as a condition of employment.
  • Possession of a valid California funeral director’s license or acquisition of California license not later than the first day of the semester, as a condition of employment.
  • Possession of a valid California embalmer’s license or acquisition of California license not later than the first day of the semester, as a condition of employment.
  • Commitment to diversity. Special Instructions Summary

This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified. This is a continuous recruitment to fill part‑time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as‑needed basis. The department will refer to this pool of part‑time faculty when the need to fill arises.
