Job summary

Fifth Third Bank is seeking an Homeowners Assistance Counselor in Cincinnati, OH to assist delinquent mortgage customers. You will guide borrowers through Forbearance, Repayment and Modifications while ensuring compliance with investor and insurer guidelines.

Role requires strong communication, analytical thinking and the ability to work with agents, attorneys and insurers to resolve delinquencies. Prior loss mitigation or collections experience is preferred and the position emphasizes

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum two years collection, support or related customer service experience; Loss Mitigation experience is preferable.
• Knowledge of FDCPA/Privacy Act/state laws and bank policies for collection guidelines.
• Ability to explain workout options within guidelines and negotiate efficiently.
• Excellent communication, listening and negotiation skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently with moderate supervision.
• Understanding of debt collections in delinquency stages; foreclosure/REO experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pursues communication with defaulted customers to offer workout alternatives.
• Contacts delinquent customers to obtain payment commitments and set up repayment plans.
• Analyze customer situation and collateral risk to present Forbearance/Repayment/Modifications options.
• Review and negotiate foreclosure or repossession alternatives within timelines.
• Monitor accounts for Soldiers and Sailors Act compliance; escalate as needed.
• Record all collection efforts in the system and provide process improvement feedback.
