Job summary

Soo Co-op Credit Union in Michigan is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to help members navigate purchasing or refinancing a home with confidence and clarity. You will build relationships, assess mortgage options, and guide members through applications in Encompass, coordinating with real estate professionals, title companies, and appraisers to keep the process moving smoothly from application to closing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior banking, mortgage lending, financial services, or related field experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
• Regular, in-person attendance at a Soo Co-op Credit Union branch.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, professional relationships with members and guide them through the mortgage application and lending process.
• Help members understand their mortgage options and recommend products that best fit their needs.
• Manage mortgage applications through Encompass, complete required calculations and documentation, and ensure loans meet underwriting and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with real estate agents, title companies, appraisers, and other parties to keep the mortgage process moving smoothly.
• Lock interest rates and prepare, review, and explain mortgage documentation to borrowers.
• Maintain communication with members throughout the process and provide a high level of service from application through closing.
• Cross-train within the Mortgage Department and support the team as needed.
