Job summary

First American is a long‑standing leader in the mortgage servicing and origination space, providing in‑house legal and regulatory guidance. This role focuses on mortgage servicing documentation, regulatory compliance, and liaison with operations and product teams.

The attorney will interpret federal and state mortgage laws, draft and review servicing documents, and support business teams while maintaining high standards of integrity and risk management.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor degree required and licensed to practice in the US.
Typical 1–3 years of professional experience in mortgage servicing law.
Experience with RESPA (Reg X) and TILA (Reg Z) preferred.
Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical documentation and processes.

Responsibilities

Provide legal support to mortgage servicing and regulatory compliance.
Research and interpret federal/state mortgage laws to ensure compliance of documents and processes.
Review and maintain mortgage servicing documents and forms for accuracy and regulatory alignment.
Collaborate with internal operations, product, technology, and compliance teams to address servicing questions.
Research client questions and resolve mortgage servicing-related concerns.
