Job summary

First American in the United States seeks an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal and regulatory guidance on mortgage servicing documents and related compliance. You will partner with operations, product, technology, and compliance teams to ensure accurate, compliant documentation and effective responses to regulatory changes.

The role requires a law degree, US bar admission, and 1–3 years of mortgage servicing experience.

Qualifications

Law degree required and admitted to practice in the US.
1–3 years of professional experience in mortgage servicing regulatory area.
Licensed to practice law, in good standing.
Direct experience with residential mortgage servicing regulations, compliance, and documentation.
Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements into practical documentation and processes.

Responsibilities

Facilitate the Division(s) objectives by providing timely legal support while minimizing legal exposure and risk.
Provide practical, timely legal counsel focused on mortgage servicing documents and regulatory compliance.
Research federal and state mortgage servicing laws to ensure documents remain compliant.
Review and maintain mortgage servicing documents and forms for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on documents, systems, and processes.
Collaborate with internal teams to address servicing documentation questions and support product changes.
Work with clients' legal/compliance contacts to resolve mortgage servicing questions.
