Job summary

U.S. Bank in Boise is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to originate loans in assigned markets, take applications, conduct preliminary underwriting, and guide them toward processing and closing.

The role requires travel and strong sales skills to grow the referral base. The candidate must maintain NMLS registration and comply with SAFE Act standards, while demonstrating knowledge of underwriting requirements and applicable laws.

Qualifications

• NMLS registration under the SAFE Act and Regulation Z; maintain a satisfactory criminal and credit record
• High school degree or equivalent
• Two or more years of Mortgage, Sales, or Real Estate experience
• Knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of various mortgage insurance companies
• Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors
• Familiar with local, state and national laws (e.g. Truth-in-Lending, RESPA)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to analyze financial information
• Sales oriented

Responsibilities

• Originate mortgage loans in an assigned Non-Bank territory
• Take applications and conduct preliminary underwriting reviews
• Submit loan applications to processing and underwriting for approval
• Follow-up to secure documents for processing, underwriting and closing
• Spend at least 50% of time conducting activities away from U.S. Bank locations
