Job summary

Tompkins Bank & Trust is hiring a Mortgage Loan Officer to deliver direct mortgage loan services to customers and prospects. You will interview borrowers, analyze financials, and recommend suitable programs while guiding applications to closing.

Responsibility includes maintaining accurate loan data in the LOS/POS system, coordinating with partners, and expanding referral networks to grow the mortgage business. Strong knowledge of lending rules is essential.

Qualifications

• Active NMLS registration or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Experience in mortgage lending and customer service.
• Strong knowledge of lending regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct mortgage loan services to bank customers and cross-sell bank services.
• Interview customers, evaluate financial information, and recommend mortgage programs.
• Ensure applications are complete and accurate; manage processing timelines and closing dates.
• Enter loan data into origination systems and maintain accurate pipeline records.
• Communicate loan decisions and gather needed documentation from customers.
• Coordinate with borrowers, underwriters, and closing agents throughout the process.
• Assist in closings and liaise between branches as needed.
• Develop referral relationships to increase mortgage referrals and cross-sell opportunities.
