Job summary

Tompkins Bank & Trust is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to provide direct mortgage loan services to customers and prospects, explain financing options, collect financial data, and coordinate loan processing through closing. You will cross-sell bank services and respond to inquiries related to mortgage products.

The role requires obtaining and maintaining NMLS registration, strong communication, and knowledge of lending regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience beyond high school; strong communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal relations and knowledge of lending regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interview customers applying for mortgage loans and explain financing programs.
• Ensure applications are complete and accurate with required documentation.
• Explain preliminary analysis outcomes and pursue further processing if acceptable.
• Assist in processing and disposition of loan files from origination to closing.
• Enter loan data into LOS/POS systems and manage timelines for underwriting.
• Coordinate with branches, real estate agents, and other parties to move loans toward closing.
