Job summary

Bell Bank Mortgage in Madison, WI seeks a Mortgage Loan Originator to market and originate loans that meet regulatory and investor guidelines for sale on the secondary market.

Qualifications

• B.A. or minimum of three years of mortgage banking experience.
• Two years of mortgage banking sale experience.
• NMLS registration.
• Familiarity with FNMA, FHLMC, HUD/VA Lending, regulatory compliance and investor guidelines.
• Ability to strategize to market and develop business contact.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to travel to different branches and to off-site meetings.

Responsibilities

• Gather information for documentation, analysis, disclosure and underwriting loan applications.
• Structure loan to ensure compliance with product guidelines.
• Submit through DU/LP and review findings to ensure borrower compliance.
• Enter required information into the mortgage origination system and order appraisal.
• Solicit and take loan applications professionally and promptly.
• Evaluate credit factors to ensure guideline compliance.
• Provide appropriate borrower compliance information at application and obtain disclosures.
• Provide Loan Estimates within regulatory guidelines and handle redisclosures as required by MDIA.
• Provide necessary applicant information to processor.
• Price loans according to guidelines and secure signed lock agreements.
• Review Closing Disclosure and prepare borrower for closing.
• Maintain open communication with agents, borrowers, processors and closers.
• Develop marketing plans to expand market share and stimulate loan production.
• Maintain regular contact with clients and professional/community organizations.
• Stay up to date on program, compliance and investor guidelines and changes.
• Provide guidance and service to applicants requesting mortgage information.
• Make preliminary determinations of applicant credit worthiness and issue prequalification statements.
• Stay aware of real estate market trends to better serve clients.
• Know customers and employees by name to foster relationships.
• Align with Bell Bank policies, conduct policies and legal regulations.
• Maintain information security compliance.
