Job summary

Pima Medical Institute's El Paso campus is seeking a Substitute Dental Assistant Instructor to provide high-quality classroom and lab instruction on an as-needed basis. This role is perfect for a practicing Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), or Licensed Dentist looking to share hands-on skills with adult learners during morning hours (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM).

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program OR three years of related occupational experience if graduating from a non-accredited program.
• Minimum of two years practical work experience in dental assisting (or general dentistry).
• Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), or Licensed Dentist in the State of Texas.
• Core competencies include four-handed and/or six-handed dental assisting methods, chairside techniques, and Texas dental regulations.
• Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
• Hiring Range: $20.80 to $24.90 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-programmed dental assisting lesson plans, lectures, and hands-on lab training (including four-handed/six-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, and infection control).
• Grade student assignments, clinical lab competencies, and exams within 72 hours of submission.
• Address academic or behavioral concerns proactively, connecting students with campus resources and leadership as needed.
• Maintain precise and timely student attendance logs, early alerts, incident reports, and academic records.
• Enforce OSHA, HIPAA, and safety guidelines across classroom, laboratory, and clinical areas.
• Participate in campus faculty meetings, in-service workshops, and advisory board events when applicable.
