Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northern Indiana Corridor in Mishawaka is seeking a Before-Care Youth Development Professional (YDP) to support members before school at CANOPS and other sites from 6:30 am to 8:15 am.

The role focuses on a safe, welcoming space with light structure and positive interactions, preparing youth for the day ahead. Prior youth work and CPR certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School graduate or equivalent; some post-secondary education preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Experience working with youth through recreation, coaching, training, tutoring, or teaching.

Responsibilities

• Arrive ready to open the before-care space and prepare for member arrival (6:30 a.m. start at most sites).
• Supervise youth as they enter the site and move through the before-care period until school begins.
• Ensure the environment is safe, clean, and orderly; set up/put away materials.
• Engage youth in casual, age-appropriate activities that help them settle in for the day.
• Maintain positive youth relationships and foster a sense of belonging.
• Monitor and enforce behavior expectations and elevate issues as needed.
• Track attendance and assist with check-in/out during school transitions.
• Assist with transition to breakfast and be a consistent, reliable presence.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and club initiatives.
