Job summary

Child Care Resources Inc. is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in a Montessori preschool for ages 2–6. The role is full-time, 40 hours weekly, with shifts around 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, year-round operation.

The successful candidate will assist with classroom preparation, materials, and supervised activities, while promoting Montessori principles and positive behavior guidance.

Qualifications

• Background check through DCYF.
• TB test.
• Food handler certification.
• CPR certification.
• First aid certification.
• Experience in a childcare setting.
• Most requirements can be completed within first 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing and cleaning the classroom.
• Assist children ages 2-6 with individual work and during circle time, snacks or lunch.
• Help with outside/inside play and transitions.
• Support behavior management in Montessori framework.
• Prepare lesson materials under Lead Teacher direction.
• Contribute to a year-round program schedule.

Job description

Assistant Teacher supports Lead teacher in Montessori preschool mixed-age classroom of children ages 2years-6years old. Priority given to candidates trained in, or familiar with, Montessori educational philosophy.

Position is fulltime 40h/wk, 7:45-3:45 or slight variations on that schedule as needed. Our program runs year-round, with a Fall semester, Spring semester, and Summer session. Position is hourly and offers medical, dental, and retirement.

What You'll Do

Duties include cleaning, preparing, and closing the classroom, assisting the Lead Teacher, preparing lesson materials under Lead teacher direction, assisting children ages 2yo-6yo with individual work, at circle time, snacks or lunch (some food preparation required), outside or inside play, and transition times.

Assistant teachers are expected to help children manage behaviors and learning under the Montessori philosophy.

Requirements

Some requirements must be completed prior to starting, but most can be completed within first 90d of hire.
