Job summary

Flint Community Schools seeks a Montessori Teacher to create a flexible, nurturing classroom and implement a Montessori curriculum tailored to each child, while collaborating with parents and staff to support growth.

The role emphasizes ongoing professional development, individualized instruction, and regular family engagement as essential components of student success. A $10k sign-on bonus is available for 2026/27, with a deadline of December 31, 2026.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate required; Montessori certification preferred.
• Previous Montessori classroom teaching experience preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively on a teaching team and to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements Montessori lesson plans tailored to each child.
• Collaborates with parents, guardians, and administrators to address behavioral and academic challenges.
• Maintains a safe, nurturing classroom environment.
• Provides individualized and small-group instruction to match learning styles.
• Participates in ongoing Montessori professional development.
• Selects field trips aligned with curriculum themes and supervises participants.
• Monitors and supervises students during activities, keeping a positive environment.
• Supervises paraprofessionals and volunteers to support learning.
• Performs ongoing assessments and documents progress for each student.
• Communicates with parents about progress; conducts at least two on-site conferences annually.
• Identifies student needs and coordinates with other professionals to address challenges.
• Encourages active parent involvement in the Montessori program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
