Job summary

The Montessori Teacher at Flint Community Schools will design and implement a Montessori curriculum that supports each child’s development through individualized plans and small-group instruction.

You will collaborate with parents and staff, communicate progress, and conduct on-site conferences to involve families in the child’s growth.

The position emphasizes ongoing Montessori training and creating a safe, engaging classroom environment that fosters learning and personal growth.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate required.
• Montessori certification preferred.
• Previous Montessori classroom teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements lesson plans using Montessori principles tailored to each child.
• Works with parents, guardians, and admins to address behavioral and academic challenges.
• Maintains a safe, nurturing classroom environment.
• Provides individualized education plans and small-group instruction.
• Participates in ongoing Montessori professional development.
• Selects field trips aligned with curriculum themes and supervises participants.
• Monitors students during activities and maintains a positive learning space.
• Supervises paraprofessionals and volunteers to support learning.
• Documents progress and conducts data entry as required.
• Communicates progress to parents through conferences and updates.
