Job summary

Salem Montessori School in Salem, VA is hiring a Part-time Aftercare Elementary Assistant to support students from 1st to 8th grade after the school day. You will supervise outdoor play, assist with homework, and lead engaging activities in a collaborative team.

Successful candidates are dependable, observant, and able to communicate clearly, with strong organizational skills and a caring approach to basic needs. Working Monday–Friday, 15–20 hours per week, with growth potential.

Qualifications

• Ages 18 or older.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to be certified.
• Experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help create a safe, welcoming environment after school.
• Support elementary students with outdoor play, crafts, and homework.
• Foster independence, responsibility and respect in Montessori-aligned activities.
• Collaborate with the team to build community and positive experiences.
