Job summary

Salem Montessori School in Salem, VA is hiring a Part-time Aftercare Elementary Assistant to support students from 1st to 8th grade after the school day. You will supervise outdoor play, assist with homework, and lead engaging activities in a collaborative team.

Successful candidates are dependable, observant, and able to communicate clearly, with strong organizational skills and a caring approach to basic needs. Working Monday–Friday, 15–20 hours per week, with growth potential.

Qualifications

• Ages 18 or older.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to be certified.
• Experience with children preferred.

• Support elementary students with outdoor play, crafts, and homework.

SMS is currently hiring for a Part-time elementary aftercare assistant

Your Role as an Aftercare Elementary Assistant

As our Aftercare Elementary Assistant, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can relax, connect, and continue learning through meaningful activities at the end of the school day. Working as part of our collaborative team, you will support elementary students through outdoor play, creative projects, homework assistance, and community-building experiences while fostering independence, responsibility, and respect. If you enjoy working with children, value teamwork, and are passionate about creating positive experiences that reflect Montessori principles, we would love to welcome you to our community.

Requirements:
