Job summary

Salem Montessori School is hiring a Part-time Aftercare Elementary Assistant to create a safe, welcoming environment where children can unwind and learn after the school day.

You will support 1st–8th graders with outdoor play, creative projects, homework help, and community-building while modeling independence, respect, and Montessori principles. Requirements include 18+, a high school diploma or GED, and CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Ages 18 or older.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• CPR and First Aid Certification or willing to be certified.
• Experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

SMS is currently hiring for a Part-time elementary aftercare assistant

Your Role as an Aftercare Elementary Assistant

As our Aftercare Elementary Assistant, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can relax, connect, and continue learning through meaningful activities at the end of the school day. Working as part of our collaborative team, you will support elementary students through outdoor play, creative projects, homework assistance, and community-building experiences while fostering independence, responsibility, and respect. If you enjoy working with children, value teamwork, and are passionate about creating positive experiences that reflect Montessori principles, we would love to welcome you to our community.

Expectations:

• Monday-Friday
• 15-20 hours per week
• Hours available 2:30 pm-5:30 pm
• Ability to be on your feet
• Ability to lift and move
• Ability to conduct chores apart from child care

Requirements:

• Ages 18 or older
• High School Diploma or GED
• CPR and First Aid Certified or willing to be certified
• Experience with children (preferred)
