Job summary

Beacon Mobility is seeking a part-time School Van Monitor to safely transport students to and from school. You will assist with boarding/alighting, ensure proper use of seat belts, and monitor behavior while communicating with staff and families.

The role offers a 20-25 hour workweek with benefits including 401(k), dental, vision, life insurance, and paid training. Prioritizes safety, reliability, and positive interactions with students and the community.

Qualifications

• Age 18+.
• Ability to pass a background check, CORI/SORI, drug screen.
• Effectively communicate in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Safely assist students entering and exiting the vehicle and secure them in car seats and booster seats.
• Monitor student behavior and provide guidance as needed.
• Report unsafe behavior to management and follow corrective steps.
• Communicate clearly with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication using Van Pool’s two-way radio.
• Lift may be required to help children and equipment.
• Follow written and verbal directions from supervisors and work with school-age children with special needs.

• Split Shifts- 5:30am-9:00am & 1:00pm-5:00pm (example only, exact hours depend on assigned route)

What You’ll Be Doing

• Safely assist students as needed. This includes helping them enter and exit the vehicle, using the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts, and safely securing them in car seats and booster seats. Lifting may be required.
• Monitor student behavior to provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and direction when necessary.
• Report unsafe and inappropriate student behavior to management; follow directions and implement corrective steps as assigned.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in (English) with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
• Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills while using Van Pool’s two-way radio system.
• Must have the physical capability to safely install car seats and booster seats.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors.
• Must demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with school age children with special needs.
