Job summary

Van Pool Transportation LLC is hiring a School Van Monitor to help transport students to and from school. The role offers 20-25 hours per week at $18.00 per hour, with paid classroom and on-the-job training and benefits including a 401(k) plan, dental, vision, and life insurance.

You will assist students with boarding, seat belts, and booster seats, monitor behavior, and communicate clearly with families and staff.

Qualifications

  • Age 18+ required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Effective communication in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

  • Safely assist students as they enter/exit the vehicle and secure them in car seats and booster seats; lifting may be required.
  • Monitor student behavior and report unsafe or inappropriate conduct to management; follow directions and implement corrective steps.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
  • Use Van Pool's two-way radio system to stay connected with the team.
  • Demonstrate the ability to install car seats and booster seats safely.
  • Follow written and verbal directions from supervisors.
  • Willingness to work with school-age children with special needs.

What We Offer:
  • 20-25 hours per week
  • $18.00/Hour, Effective August 25th, 2025
  • Split Shifts- 5:30am-9:00am & 1:0pm-5:00pm (example only, exact hours depend on assigned route)

Requirements
  • Age 18+
  • Ability to pass a background check, CORI/SORI, drug screen
  • Effectively communicate in English (spoken and written)
What You’ll Be doing:
  • Safely assist students as needed. This includes helping them enter and exit the vehicle, using the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts, and safely securing them in car seats and booster seats. Lifting may be required.
  • Monitor student behavior to provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and direction when necessary. Report unsafe and inappropriate student behavior to management; follow directions and implement corrective steps as assigned.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in (English) with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills while using Van Pool’s two-way radio system.
  • Must have the physical capability to safely install car seats and booster seats.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with school age children with special needs.
