Job summary

Beacon Mobility is seeking a School Van Monitor to safely assist students during loading/unloading and ensure seat belts are used correctly. The role requires clear communication with students and staff and the ability to lift and assist as needed.

You will monitor behavior, report issues, and follow directions from supervisors while maintaining a positive, safety-focused environment for children in our care.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written).
  • Able to follow directions and maintain student safety on the bus.
  • Willingness to work early morning and afternoon shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Safely assist students as they enter and exit the vehicle and secure seating.
  • Monitor student behavior and provide guidance as needed.
  • Report unsafe behavior to management and follow corrective steps.
  • Communicate clearly with students, parents, teachers, and staff.
  • Demonstrate ability to install car seats and booster seats when required.
  • Willingness to work with school-age children with special needs.

Job description

What We Offer
  • 20-25 hours per week
  • $18.00 an hour
  • Split Shifts- 5:30am-9:00am & 1:00pm-5:00pm (example only, exact hours depend on assigned route)

Requirements
  • At least 18 years or older
  • Ability to pass a background check, CORI/SORI, drug screen
  • Effectively communicate in English (spoken and written)
What You’ll Be doing
  • Safely assist students as needed. This includes helping them enter and exit the vehicle, using the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts, and safely securing them in car seats and booster seats.
  • Lifting may be required.
  • Monitor student behavior to provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and direction when necessary.
  • Report unsafe and inappropriate student behavior to management; follow directions and implement corrective steps as assigned.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in (English) with students, parents, teachers, and Butler's Bus staff.
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills while using Butler's Bus two-way radio system.
  • Must have the physical capability to safely install car seats and booster seats.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with school age children with special needs.
