Job summary

The University of Toledo is seeking a Monitor Technician to observe central monitoring station monitors and promptly report any rhythm abnormalities. The role includes documenting rhythm strips and performing ECG tests as assigned.

Qualified candidates should have formal rhythm identification training, telemetry experience, and a current BLS certification. Flexibility in shift hours is required, including weekend/holiday availability.

Qualifications

• Minimum formal cardiac rhythm identification training or related certification.
• Experience in telemetry monitoring and ECG interpretation preferred.
• Must have BLS certification and flexible work hours.

Responsibilities

• Observe monitors in central monitoring station and report abnormalities.
• Obtain, route, document, and define rhythm strips accurately.
• Perform ECG tests on patients as assigned.

Job Description:

Responsible and accountable for observation of all monitors in the central monitoring station, this includes 3 A-B-C-D, 4AB, 4CD, 5AB, 5CD, 6AB, 6CD; MICU, reporting any abnormalities, obtaining, routing, documenting, and accurately defining rhythm strips. Performs ECG tests on patients as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Indicate minimum required to qualify or perform this job.). Required Education/Experience/Licensing:

1. 1. HSD or equivalent with completion of formal cardiac rhythm identification training including EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or a. Completed one year of the associate degree program in cardiovascular technology or have a minimum of 1 year experience in performing EKGs with the ability to recognize arrhythmias and/ or Telemetry Monitoring experience.
2. 2. Successfully completes an arrhythmia test, with a 80% overall including 100% on the fatal arrhythmia section.
3. 3. Preferred experience with EKGs and arrythmia identification
4. 4. BLS Certification
5. 5. Must be willing to work flexible hours
6. 6. Physical requirements:
   • a. visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable;
   • b. ability to hear (with or without aides)
   • c. ability to orally communicate
   • d. good manual dexterity
   • e. ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 30 pounds occasionally
   • f. ability to stand, walk frequently
   • g. ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently; and
   • h. ability to perform CPR (if a required for position).
