Job summary

Sentara Health in Hampton, VA seeks a Monitor Technician (Telemetry) for the third shift. This is a Full-Time Nights position with 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends plus holiday rotation.

You will observe, interpret, and document telemetry ECG tracings to detect dysrhythmias and promptly notify staff as needed. Requirements include a high school diploma, completion of a monitor technician surveillance program or certificate within 90 days, or 1 year of relevant experience in the last 5 years.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire.
• If not completed, certificate program must be completed within 90 days of hire.
• Or 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years accepted in substitute.
• Must complete Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool including a basic arrhythmia exam.

Responsibilities

• Observe, recognize, interpret, evaluate and document EKG tracings on telemetry‑monitored patients.
• Detect deviations from patient’s norm and promptly notify appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias.
• Operate and utilize telemetry monitoring system to full capacity.
• Ensure proper and safe functioning of the telemetry equipment.

Sentara Health is hiring a Monitor Technician (Telemetry) in Hampton, Virginia. This is a Full-Time, Nights (3rd) shift opportunity with great benefits.

Start time: 6:36 - 6:45 pm. End time: 7:00 pm. City/State: Hampton, VA. Work Shift: Third (Nights).

The shift is 12-hours with rotating every other weekend and a holiday rotation.

The Monitor Tech observes, recognizes, interprets, evaluates, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry‑monitored patients in order to detect deviations from patient's norm. Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias. Operates and utilizes monitoring system to full capacity. Ensures proper and safe functioning of the telemetry equipment.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire.
• Candidates who have not completed a monitor technician surveillance program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire.
• Or 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years will be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course.
• To be released from new employee orientation all Monitor Technicians must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool which includes passing a basic arrhythmia exam.
