Job summary

Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA, is seeking a Telemetry Technician to set up and monitor patient telemetry per physician orders. You will calibrate equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate data transmission to the RN throughout each shift.

You may also assist with phlebotomy duties and communicate alarms or rhythm changes promptly, contributing to safe patient care in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of EKG class.
  • Familiar with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, sets-up, calibrates and adjusts monitoring equipment in accordance with physician orders.
  • Ensures continued proper functioning of equipment; troubleshoots problems as identified.
  • Collects, transmits, and documents patient data to the RN with correct interpretations and interval measurements.
  • Maintains current monitored patients in the system and collaborates with nursing on alarm parameters.
  • Reports alarms and rhythm changes to RN staff; screens and processes department calls.
  • Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Responsible for the setup of telemetry on physician orders by ensuring proper placement of electrodes, running strips, and replacing batteries as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Selects, sets-up, calibrates and adjusts monitoring equipment in accordance with physician orders.
  • Ensures continued proper functioning of equipment; troubleshoots equipment problems as identified.
  • Collects, transmits, and documents pertinent patient data to the Registered Nurse (RN) with correct interpretations and interval measurements on each patient at required intervals every shift and with any significant rhythm change.
  • Maintains current monitored patients in the system; confers with nursing staff to determine correct validation counts and alarm parameters for patients.
  • Reports alarms and changes of rhythm to RN staff. Greets, screens and processes incoming unit/dept calls, patients, visitors, and messages.
  • Performs phlebotomist duties as assigned
